Pakistan and Egypt sat down in Davos on Thursday to talk about ways to strengthen their economic ties. Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb met with his Egyptian counterpart, Ahmed Kouchouk, for a discussion officials referred to as constructive.
Aurangzeb told Kouchouk about Pakistan’s work with international financial institutions. He mentioned that the economic indicators are improving and also described the steps our government is taking to make revenue collection and governance more efficient. He stated some reforms are using technology to speed up processes and improve oversight.
Kouchouk said he welcomed Pakistan’s efforts, especially in taxation, and voiced confidence in the reforms so far. The two agreed to keep talking and to explore more opportunities in trade and finance.
Officials added that the meeting shows both countries want to keep close economic ties and maintain regular communication at the international level.
