Pakistan and Somalia have signed an agreement which abolished the visa requirements for holders of diplomatic passports, this is a move aimed at strengthening the bilateral engagement, President Asif Ali Zardari said during a meeting with Somalia’s Interior Minister Ali Yousuf in Islamabad.
The two countries signed the agreement in Islamabad, in a ceremony which was witnessed by President Asif Ali Zardari, according to official statements.Mr. President, stated, in a meeting with Ali Yousuf, Somali Interior Minister that Pakistan is seeking to deepen its relations with African countries, including Somalia , He also noted that Pakistan values its engagement with Somalia and supports closer cooperation in areas of mutual interest.Pakistan’s commitment to the regional and international efforts to combat transnational crime and narcotics trafficking were also reiterated by President Zardari.
Somalia Acknowledges Pakistan’s Role in UN Peacekeeping
Pakistan was highlighted as a reliable partner and a brotherly country to Somalia since the independence of the state by the Somali Minister Meanwhile also reflected on the role of the Pakistani peacekeepers in United Nations missions in Somalia during the 1990s, noting the loss of lives of Pakistani personnel while they were serving under the UN flag.
