Pakistan’s government has made boosting exports the top priority under Uraan Pakistan, officials said, as part of the e fforts to strengthen the economy and move towards self-reliance. Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal, spoke about the initiative during his visit to the Pakistan Pavilion at Gulfood 2026 in Dubai. He said the government is focused on exports, productivity, innovation, and quality at the same time.
Government Focus on Exports Under Uraan Pakistan
Ahsan Iqbal said that the government wants “Made in Pakistan” to be recognized globally for quality. He said the Uraan Pakistan initiative is designed to support the businesses, encourage innovation in then and improve standards of production, also to open new markets. He also said that exports are really important for our country because they bring foreign exchange, create jobs, and also strengthen local industries. He repeated that the private sector is central to all of this and that government support and private effort must work together.
He highlighted that under Uraan Pakistan, policies are being introduced to make businesses more competitive, adopt new technologies, improve product quality, and also increase export potential. He said, “We want Pakistan’s products to compete globally, to be recognized for quality and innovation, and also to create opportunities for businesses at home.”
Pakistan Showcases Products at Gulfood 2026
Pakistan showcased its products which ranged from food and beverages to other consumer goods, to international buyers and investors at Gulfood 2026. Events like this are very important to expand the export markets and build to build valuable partnerships and the most important aspect is to increase the visibility of the Pakistani goods at international forums
Ahsan Iqbal said that boosting exports will also improve the overall economy, reduce dependence on imports, and help the trade balance in the country overall. He added that exports are the backbone of economic self-reliance and that Uraan Pakistan is a multi-pronged effort which is focused on productivity, quality, and market expansion.
Both government and experts said consistent efforts under Uraan Pakistan would help Pakistan move to a more sustainable, export-driven economy. He repeated that focusing on exports, private sector innovation, and global quality standards will create jobs, growth, and international recognition.
Officials said the work will continue, monitoring performance, supporting businesses, addressing barriers, and at the same time, promoting Pakistan’s products to the world.
