Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to strengthen their cooperation in energy and minerals on Friday. Officials from both countries met in Islamabad to discuss investments, technology exchange and joint projects. The talks focused on turning the long-standing brotherly relations into something practical. Projects, investments, joint work was discussed in the meeting.
High-level talks on energy, minerals and investment cooperation
Ali Pervaiz Malik the Federal Minister for Petroleum met with the Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malkiy in Islamabad and the both sides talked about the ongoing cooperation and the need to extend the partnership. Malik said that relations between the two countries are very strong and now they are moving toward tangible results. “We do not just talk, we act,” he stated while referring to the joint projects and investment opportunities.
Future Minerals Forum which was held in Riyadh recently was also discussed. The minister stated that the forum gave a platform to exchange ideas, meet investors, and improve energy cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. “Forums like these help countries come together,” he stated. Meanwhile the Saudi Ambassador said continuous engagement for mining is very important. He added that both sides need to talk more, coordinate more, and keep the progress in check.
Focus on future projects and economic outcomes
Both sides reviewed ongoing cooperation and also discussed future projects. Officials said that closer ties would help Pakistan benefit from Saudi expertise and technology and at the same time businesses in Saudi would have new opportunities to grow in Pakistan. Pakistan is looking to attract investment to develop its energy and mineral resources while Saudi Arabia is also growing its role in mining and energy worldwide.
The meeting occurred at the time when Pakistan was looking to improve energy security and boost the economy of the country. Both officials emphasized that discussions will not stay on paper but move toward real projects on the ground. They agreed to stay in close contact in the coming months. Progress will be checked, ideas will be followed up, and cooperation will continue.
