Pakistan has said that countries should follow international law and try to sort out old arguments in a peaceful way not fighting. They mentioned the UN Charter and Security Council and that it’s crucial to actually stick to the rules.
Yusuf Raza Gilani, the Senate Chairman, was talking at the IPU Annual Hearing 2026 at the UN. He said that decisions should be fair, clear, and open so people actually trust the UN he added that parliaments are important too because they make sure governments do what they promise and actually follow international agreements at home too.
Countries need to respect each other and cooperate if they want real progress. Pakistan thinks talking things out and following rules is the only way to keep peace. So this message is kind of a reminder not to just ignore laws or act by force.
-Yusuf Raza Gilani
Gilani said that conflicts should be solved through agreements, not by pressure or weapons. And he also stressed that signing agreements isn’t enough, countries need to actually follow them. Parliaments help with that, they hold governments accountable and make sure promises aren’t empty words.
Pakistan’s point is simple it asks to follow the rules, respect each other, solve problems peacefully, and make sure agreements really happen.
