Air Europa’s cancellations is following a trend that several international airlines use, by pausing service to Venezuela. In late 2025, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a warning about a “potentially hazardous situation” for flights operating in or near Venezuelan airspace following increased military activity and regional tensions. This prompted carriers including UX, IB, Avianca (AV), Gol (G3), TAP Air Portugal (TP), and others to suspend routes.
Reportedly the Venezuelan authorities had revoked operating permits for some international airlines after those carriers halted their services which further complicated the efforts to maintain commercial links. Spanish carriers such as UX, IB, and Plus Ultra (PU) extended their service suspensions into early 2026, stating the volatile conditions and safety advisories.
Officials said that
While Venezuelan airspace hasn’t been officially closed by all regulators, airlines are being cautious, prioritizing crew and passenger safety amid warnings and regional instability, in some places in some places.
