ISLAMABAD — Pakistan is keen to take its friendship with Sri Lanka even further, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said on Monday while speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad to celebrate Sri Lanka’s Independence Day.
Tarar extended warm congratulations to the people and government of Sri Lanka, calling the two countries’ relationship “historic and brotherly.” He said Pakistan and Sri Lanka have always stood by each other and hoped this close partnership would continue to grow.
The minister highlighted that the countries share strong ties across many areas, including the economy, culture, sports, and professional training with cricket being a special bond. He also mentioned Pakistan’s role in strengthening the Sri Lankan armed forces, pointing out that the country offers a large number of free training opportunities in Pakistani institutions for Sri Lankan professionals.
“Through these programs, we aim to keep our friendship strong and ensure that our cooperation continues to benefit both nations,” Tarar said.
